Why You Need An Abundance Mindset?

An abundance mindset is one in which you think that there is so much of something that it will never run out and there is more than enough for everyone out there. 

Many of us have a scarce mindset regarding money, we think there is not enough of it and that if someone else has more of it then there is less for everyone else. If we switched the way we think and believe that there is a lot of money out there and others can have it without there being less for us then that’s exactly what happens- we start to have more money. 

If you think there is less then you’ll have less, but if you think that there is a never ending amount (which is true because money is constantly being printed- it’s literally a piece of paper) then the potential of income you have coming in will be endless. 


Change Your Thoughts- Change Your Life!

It’s all about perspective, your thoughts really impact your action. Believing that money is scarce means you won’t go after more money, you’ll make decisions that limit the money that you can bring into your life, you won’t attempt to build a side hustle or have the confidence to ask for a raise or spend money on something that will lead you to make more money. On the other hand if you believe there is an abundance of money then you’ll find ways and opportunities to bring in more, you’ll be able to identify and recognise those opportunities more easily since your thoughts allow you to be more open and positive.

A way to adapt an abundance mindset is to small things everyday that put you in a more positive frame of mindset. Some activities you can do are:

Affirmations
Affirmations are the best way to change your belief around something. If you constantly tell yourself something then your mind will start believing it. For example if you say to yourself every morning:

There is a lot of money out there for me and for everybody else. Money comes easily into my life and I have a lot of it. 

Just by saying the above to yourself for 5 minutes in the morning regularly will start shifting your beliefs around money. You need to shift away from thoughts that tell you money is scarce, you have less of it, you can’t afford something, money is hard to come by or anything of the sort. 

Tell yourself good things about money- change the negative beliefs you have. Be more aware of what your thoughts regarding money are like and when you catch a negative one- stop and flip it.

Some of the negative beliefs I had around money is that I wouldn’t allow myself to spend money on anything that wasn’t a necessity and I’d feel guilty if I did and it was because I thought that once that money is gone it won’t come back and I didn’t want for that money to go away since I was afraid I’d have nothing left even if I spent a small amount of it. Now, I’m working on changing that, I like to save but before it was starting to consume my entire life since all I thought about was how little I had but now I tell myself:

I’m a saver by choice
I have a lot of money 
I can buy anything I want because money comes easily into my life
I take care of my money and it brings more money into my life

Saying money abundance affirmations like the above change my thoughts regarding money in my life- telling myself that I have a lot of money gets rid of the stress I feel around not having enough of it. By repeating the words that I have a lot of money in my life and it comes to me easily I’m more open to opportunities and I don’t constantly think that I’m going to run out of money. 

Repeating affirmations like the above every morning help me to relax and stop worrying about money, I can focus my thoughts on more important things in my life: family, friends, finding new hobbies and so much more. 

Live Like You Have A Lot Of Money
If you believe that money is scarce and there’s not enough of it then that’s how you’ll live your life but if you start changing the way you live then you’ll start changing your relationship with money which will in turn allow you to see more opportunities and make better decisions. 

For example if you believe money is scarce then you’ll buy the cheapest option of something because you believe you can’t afford something more expensive, instead tell yourself that you have a lot of money instead of buying the cheapest priced item- save for one a little bit more expensive. I’m not saying just buy the most expensive item if there’s not money in your bank account rather say to yourself that money will come into your life so that you can buy it- put aside money and buy the things slightly more expensive than you normally would. 

If you tell yourself you can afford it then you’ll start believing you have the money and that you deserve the better things- all of these thoughts and actions are to get you to change you behaviour, you’ll be more receptive to future opportunities that bring in income. You’ll no longer be afraid or ignore opportunities that bring in income and you’ll have faith in yourself that you can have a lot of money- believing is half the battle the rest is action. 

Instead of going to cheaper stores go to more expensive stores- you don’t have to buy anything but if you act like you can afford to go into places that have more higher priced items then you’re living as if you have a lot of money. 

Think of other activities you would do if you had a lot of money- for me I would want to travel a lot, I might not be able to do a lot of it now but I can put money aside each month and go for a weekend trip or just make a day trip, it’s about creating those experiences for yourself on a smaller level to make you believe that you are living the life you want. 

So write down things you would do if you had a lot money and it was not something you worried about- what would you do in your daily life, what would it look like, answer these questions and find ways to give yourself small experiences of these to make you feel as if you are living that life.
